Considering the Intellectual Impact of Internet

The following article from the NY Times delineates very well the cultural and technological pressures before our students (and adults). I have talked and blogged about the book The Shallows – What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains, by Nicholas Carr, which deals with the ongoing debate about the intellectual and cultural consequences of the Internet. One of his points is that when we go online, we enter an environment that promotes cursory reading, hurried and distracted thinking, and superficial learning.
